1. Big Sky Kites in Margate (2009) - The Big Sky International Kite Festival held on Margate beach on 19th/20th September 2009. This - the third - festival was organised by Gill and Jon Bloom of the Kite Society of Great Britain and was attended by more than 15,000 people.
2. Kentish Flats Wind Farm & Thames Estuary Forts - A leisurely cruise out of Herne Bay Harbour on the Sailing Barge Greta with Steve the skipper and Alfie the dog. (7th September 2009)
3."Stand Up Against Poverty" - Tammy Stewart-Jones (Thanet Fair Trade Initiative) voices the pledge at The Winter Gardens in Margate on World Food Day. (16th October 2009).
4. China Gateway - A Visiting Delegation - A delegation from the Far East stop off at the mayors parlour in Margate's Old Town to meet Thanet council’s deputy leader Roger Latchford and Jim Brathwaite - chairman of the South East England Development Agency. The group included Lu Yuexing – vice governor of Pudong, (a district of Shanghai that is home to many of the firms which may open factories in the new development) and they discussed progress on the 138,000 square metre multi-million pound China Gateway business park, where construction work is due to start in 2010. The top execs were taken for a tour of the isle by helicopter, piloted by Ken Wills, boss of Commercial Group Properties, the company behind the English side of the deal to bring Chinese firms to Thanet. 5. Margate Old Town Food Market - A Fabulous Food Market in Duke Street to Celebrate August Bank Holiday Weekend. (29th August 2009)
6. Storm's Edge at Cliftonville - As the storm, named Xynthia, swept through western Europe, killing up to 50 people in France (25 people in the town of l'Aiguillon sur Mer alone), Thanet suffered only strong winds and rough seas. (28th February 2010)
